2006 325i wont start please help

I have a 2006 325i and it wont start or even turn over and im getting a yellow code on the dash that shows a steering wheel and a lock. I have tried a new battery and it didnt help. Any help is greatly appreciated

Have you tried a different key? Looks like it could be some issue with reading the chip in the key.

steering column lock malfunction. try jiggling the wheel left and right before starting.

you may need to have the steering column replaced

Yea i tried moving the wheel how much does the steering column replacement run?

Also how do you reset the car compute? Just removing the battery cables doesnt do it

list price is 550 for the column. IIRC, its 2 hours of labor by the book. so 7-800 for the replacement if you arent under warranty

as for resetting the DME, you need a bmw specific diagnostic cable.

How could i find out if its under warrenty still?

Important point: Your original factory warranty lasts 4 years.

To verify that fact, you must delve deep into your BMW supplied documentation.

I see your error image is a LOCK and a STEERING WHEEL.

Try searching, say, Google for BMW STEERING WHEEL LOCK.
