What tires with M-Sport Increased Speed Limiter?
I'm looking at buying an F30 M-Sport with (among other options) the "Increased Top Speed Limiter With Performance Tires" (sorry, don't know the option code). This purchase would be trading in my 2010 535 xDrive - I would like a more sporty and nimbler car.
Could anyone tell me what tires come as the "Performance Tires"? I want to know whether I should budget to buy some Michelin Pilot Super Sports or whether the OEM tires are pretty good. Thank you. |

I bought a Sportline xDrive with the standard 18" wheels and chose the no cost option of Performance Summer Tires (ZPT) and with that got the Increased Top Speed Limiter (840). My car came with Goodyear Efficient Grip tires. FYI, I think we have the same alma mater! Bruce

Thank you for the responses, and sorry for being incomplete in the information I gave. I would be buying RWD and 19".

Michelin PSS will ride and handle better no matter what. OEM tires are pretty good. Conclude: Wear out your OEM's - then TireRack Michelins. You're smart to get winter tires as ride quality & performance suffers below 60° F....I know, mfg says 50° F....trust me, it happens earlier. Conti DWS comes t'mind. ![]() OK, OK, just kidding. Michelin Pilot Super Sport is an awesome tire, but it would probably be better to invest in second set of wheels and all season tires or winter performance tires. I have winter performance for third winter now. First winter was fine. Second one terrible - temperatures were just too high. This winter was fine. So ... if most of the days you are hovering around 50 degrees, go for all seasons. If most of the days you are hardly breaking 40s, then winter performance will make you smile. Then, when your OEM tires go, it's Michelin time

HokieXDriver-
I have Potenza S001s on mine, they were fine for the week before my set of Blizzaks got here. I haven't had a chance to test them out in the summer yet, but everything I've read on them says that they run well and grip great both wet and dry. My inner cheapskate seconds (thirds, fourths) the above in recommending waiting for the OEMs to wear out before going for the PSS. cough WAHOOWAH cough
