No Audible Alert or Hazard Flash upon Locking when Engine On?

With known battery issues and when very cold out, I've been leaving the car running to quickly run in and out of stores, locking the doors when I do so. Is there any way to have the car make an audible alert or for it to flash the hazards when it is running and I lock the doors from the remote (as it does when the car is off), so I know the doors have in fact locked?

I'll have to try mine and see what happens. Does the clown nose blink when locked with the engine running? Maybe that can be your tell-tale.

Our cars don't readily do so, but I wonder if there's any way to program them...

I thought all 5 series came standard with an alarm. Did you check in the I drive settings. I believe its in there.

Yes, it locks when the engine is on.

+1. I tried mine too (535i). Just like yours, it locked, no audible alert or blinking clown nose. I don't usually do that maneuver, so I'm not too concerned.
