soft close trunk issues
i have a 2001 740il that the trunk appears to be dead. The button wont open it either. I have to use the key. The sunroof is doing strange things too. All the fuses check out. Is this a GM or other module problem?

Check the rubber grommet at the hinges... The wires fatigue after time and break or short circuit

Are the earths for the soft close and roof motor both in the boot (sorry Trunk)? It could be the common point.

It takes five minutes to test, so, I'd first physically check the trunk / boot wire harness:

Sort of like I said, wires, earth points and connectors. Repair wires with solder joints and shrink sleeve.

E38 soft close
Thanks for the advise, it works. I had a battery go dead and of course had the trunk opened to make the change, but now we are back in action.
