What is the latest Bmw software for the 535 right now??

Does anybody know what is the latest software version bmw is up to for the 535? My car is a 2013 with a build date of 7/2012 so I am sure there's plenty of updates since i took delivery of my car. My tech is going to update my cars software to the latest and greatest but I just want to make sure it is in fact the latest version.

Thanks,
Alan

I wonder how you would even check such a thing. It would be nice to know.

Not just the Idrive/Bluetoof stuff you can check on www.bmw.com and upgrade yourself right - but the actual internal software?

Yeah the actual software that pretty much controls the engine and transmission. I've never had the throttle delay issue in my 2013 but I figure there has to be improvements along the way to fix bugs etc...

My car was pretty much built the first week the 2013's came online so I am positive BMW changed some stuff around by now.

I have had several BMW's. My advice is to leave the software alone unless you are having issues.

Every update fixes bugs and introduces more bugs.

Needsdecaf and shawnsheridan are the forum resident experts on the subject of global software updates. Maybe you could PM them. Also there is a very long-standing thread on the global software update associated with the throttle "tip-in" issue, so maybe there is some mention of a recent global software update in that thread.

I think there was a new version released sometime in March. But yeah, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I'm interested as well. I'm probably getting my car coded in a few weeks and am now figuring it might be good to get any Updates done before hand? Though my car performs great so maybe don't mess with it? I'd like to assume that BMW may introduce fundamental improvements to the car, but perhaps that isn't the case.

A lot of times the updates incorporate new features for the newer models. Or fix an issue with an option that you may not have.

Can you just take a BMW to get the software updated? I know with Mercedes they "didn't allow that". You had to take it in for an issue which revolved around an update potentially helping, or something like that.

I don't think Bmw normally does an update by request but lucky for me i know the tech so he can arrange for this to happen. he also told me that in the past updating the software use to take a full day if not more but now there is a new way of doing it and it only takes 20mins to do.

My car is still giving me that dreaded battery message so i want to take it in and get as much done as possible while it is there.

The dealer (usually) will not just upgrade you. You either need to have a problem, be due for maintenance, or have a connection.

OK, so I went to BMW.com and downloaded and updated the software. Took two minutes in the car fro the USB port. Now my email @logo shows up in the idrive (YAY! its why I bought an iPhone 5) but the new emails don't show in current office. What setting am I missing?

What you did just updates certain features in the nav/bluetooth/entertainment system. The others responding to this thread are talking about the broader software that includes engine and drivetrain management. You cannot download that and put it on a usb. The dealership downloads it from a BMW server and loads it into the car. The process can take anywhere from 2 hours to much longer.

I'm sorry, yes I am referring to the Bluetooth software. I did not get the email notification icon but now I do. However the actual update of the email is not working.

Regarding the whole car software I did actually get the latest version as of last month when I saw an earlier than expected service interval for my brake pads. Took them a whole week to do it!
