I thought that they didn't allow MSDs in NY? Black nappa looks great.

Lease transfer done through BMW financial. They have to approve credit of person assuming lease. I think transfer fee is $400.

Pretty good deal. My payments almost $100/mo more for virtually the same car. What's the residual on the car? How much was the net capitalization cost?

If a lease is transferred from one state to another, the destination state will charge sales tax on all remaining lease payments. So if the original lease had the sales tax baked into the lease, you pay sales tax twice. When I moved from CA> NY and then NY> NJ I got hammered and I couldn't find any way around it.

OP hasn't posted how must $$$$ (MSDs) the buyer will need to pay him to assume lease....

OP, is the tire warranty a local plan, or BMW?

I'm not sure why that matters. The assumptor will still get the MSD back at the end of the lease.

You actually told him his monthly payment was a 'good deal' compared to your monthly payment.

Without knowing the underlying MSDs you cannot evaluate a monthly payment...

Right?

Its a very good deal, even with sales tax baked into the monthly payment. Ard, you clearly don't understand, you don't lose the MSD's you get them back! Therefore as long as you have the means to part with $5,600 for 36 months the evaluation is quite simple.

Right?
I put down the max MSD, totaling $6300, and my payment was almost $100 more a month. The more the MSD, the better the payment. So assuming he used the same as me, with identical build, different MY, and I'm sure a different residual. My car was $1100 over invoice and the dealer ate all the lease fees except for the standard $725 acquisition fee.

The only real issue is that he's over on his average mileage, but even at 20 cents a mile, the 1500 miles is totally manageable with 30 months left.

Judging by all that, I would say it's a good deal.

To the OP, I apologize, didn't mean to hijack the thread.

I understand MSDs.

My point is until chucktown knew how many msds were down (and we knew how many MSDs he put down) it was impossible to say 'its a good deal' only based on the monthly.

I never said it wasnt a good deal, and never implied the MSDs where being hidden or whatever. Just that once you had that number you could then fully evaluate the deal.

Well, considering that I put down the max MSDs and my payment was still higher for virtually the same vehicle, I think it's a safe assumption that he got a better deal than I did, assuming he didn't put money down in addition to the MSD (which is irrelevent because OP isn't asking for that back from the Assumptor).

I didn't need to know how much in MSDs he put down, because there was no way he put down more than me based on:

my monthly payment was higher so my MSD multiple would be higher
I put down the max MSds (7).

I wasn't trying to put a smartass or a knowitall, I was simply stating a fact. It's a good deal.

And until you posted your MSds we had no idea if you were correct or you had overpaid!

That is a very wide selection to choose from. They are not even necessary in the same market. It really up to what you want in the end. Decide on what kind of car suite you first. Then the decision is easy.

I personally would prefer the Audi S6. There are far fewer Audi in Bay Area than BMW. I just like to trying something a little different. Although, I still need the utility at this point in my life.

Reading between the lines it looks like this "short term rental" didn't cost you much (a couple grand for 6 months) but why did you only drive it 6 months before getting out of the lease if you didn't already know what you wanted to get instead? Did you simply decide that a lease was not a wise financial choice (for you)? Most would have stayed in it until they decided.

I was going to get killed in mileage...and as much as i like the diesel and its torque, I miss a v-8 rumble and nice exhaust sound.

Just wanted to say "nice work" for building such a thoughtfully optioned X5. Hopefully you find a match out there for this one.
