unique gauge locations?

so I picked up a trio of glow shift gauges for the 325 to keep an eye on oil press, fuel press and air to fuel ratio in preperation of bolting up the v2. After some deliberation the idea of using the storage cubby above the cig lighter just feels awkward. Anyone seen anything better (exempting a pillar pods as thats kind of a given)?

The only other places I have seen them were to the left of the steering wheel on the dash or to the right of the steering wheel on the middle of the dash.

I think pillar pods above or below the rear view mirror would be neat. Like this.

^ I'm thinking that might be a bit bulky with the way the headliner dips down right there already. Maybe play into the curve of the dash where it transitions into the pax side?

The only problem with this might be keeping it clean. It just seems like dusting would be a pain the ass... Im kind of thinking Barbie is on to the right idea with using the side of the dash where it transitions to the pass side. Im doing it up this weekend so Ill be sure to snap some shots. The above the mirror idea is awesome but in the e36 I might be hitting my head into that thing.

You're worried about dusting? Don't see why it would be hard to clean gauges on the steering column. That location is by far the best for ease of visibility without obstructing the outward view.

But it looks like a bug. Just sayin'.

I would go with the ATI steering wheel gauges if anything. They're right in view, and don't look too tacky. Second would be in the A-pillar. Kinda looks tacky, but it's a convenient location.

Me too... If your steering wheel needs dusting, then you definitely don't drive it enough.

Sun glass holder under the temp control panel. The metrics you're monitoring are "check occasionally" type, not something you're going to be staring at. The only one that will have much variability will be the A/F ratio gauge.

Don't forget the blinker fluid gauge. That one can jump quickly and you definitely have to keep and eye on it.

Glad I could make you laugh. But I dont care for gauges that arent flushed or easy to get around. The base of those bug eyes just look (a) flimsy (b) one more crevice to work around with a tootbrush. The reason it gets dusty in my car is because I do drive it. This is socal = dead plant life and a very dry climate make for dusty conditions. . .

well, Formed a template out of some flexible plastic, gutted the vent, cleaned and scuffed and laid out 15 layeI rs of 6 ounce glass. . . Once it gels I am back at it.

Center vent

The center vent is the main supplier of air in terms of heat/AC and blocking it will allow about ~20% of the typical airflow though.

True. However the climate around here sits tightly between 60 and 85. The added air pressure to the alternate vents will be sufficient for this region.

I actually don't ever use any vent but the defroster vent.

I wish I lived in Seattle. You guys have real trees, rain and snow. After ten years of never ending August the years start to run together. Plus I miss snow drifting.

Washington is a very interesting state, that's for sure. I think it's one of the prettiest parts of the country. We've got crazy mountains, rainforests, desert-like places, etc. I'm happy as a clam in Seattle, but there are times when I wonder what it would be like to live in California.

It has its advantages. Last time I was in Seattle I was only there for a day or two. Everyone I was there with wanted to move there. Then we were picked up by a label in LA. Poof... Grounded... I think Im going back up in July... Hopefully I can sway them. Either way I get to take a break from the heat. Although I suppose its going to be hot by then.

It never gets too hot here. Summer in Seattle is stunning. Average daytime highs are in the low to mid '70s, sunshine for months, and cool nights.

For the most part haha. Until it hits mid August. I'm sure it's nothing compared to cali though.
