2013 F31 328i xDrive Sport Wagon starts at $42,345

I'm glad I purchased the X1. I don't need all the tech of the Fxx and while the X1 exterior styling isn't the greatest in my book (I like the interior), it beats the F31! Last edited by nospam; 01-24-2013 at 06:32 PM. |

I don't think we will see many of these around at that entry price.

I knew it was coming and looked into it, didn't do anything for me though. The only thing that made me consider it was that it has more interior space as I understand

It will be really interesting to see the wagon numbers vs x1. It will be revealing to see if luxury, bells and whistles are more important or price.

If it's anything like the 2013 328i loaner I had last week then NO THANKS...UGH!

So if you compare base model with base model- what does the F31 wagon have that the X1 doesn't have? It seems like the only thing the X1 is missing is power seats, and a sport mode on top of the normal and eco modes for the transmission. What else does the base 3-series have that the X1 doesn't have?

From the top of my head: A bit nicer interior. Better bolstered standard seats. Rear air vents. More rear legroom. iDrive standard (without NAV). Color display in instrument cluster. User's manual stored in iDrive.

I was looking at the ex37 info online for a family member and depending on options, the EX37 reminds me of the new 3 series interior and a X1 body. 325hp and 265ft/lb puts its 5.8s 0-60 midway between the 28 and 35 as well. For the price, it's probably going to pull potential X1 owners who want a better interior and more gadgets that the X1 is missing yet still at a lower price than a 3 series wagon. I drove an ex35 last year and liked it, but it's more F chasis handling than E handling IMO. Electronic steering, heavier, and 7 speed auto.

The Infiniti EX is an awkward vehicle. Great features and driveability, but there is absolutely no cargo space...embarrassingly anemic. Did you lift the rear hatch? We couldn't believe it! There is a reason not a lot of them are on the road.
If the EX gets a makeover, it will become a worthy contender. |

Panorama moonroof is also standard in the 3-series.

The rest is negligible in my opinion, sport seats preferable in any case and tht as well as iDrive and roof would likely be on an X1 of similar price to the F31, instrument cluster colors inconsequential , user manual easily can be on phone or tablet as PDF, more useful then on iDrive especially considering how useless that is if car if battery is dead or you can't see display when you need it. Better steering /road feel of X1, xdrive or N55 can't be had on the F31 though (at least in the US) Last edited by Farkled; 01-26-2013 at 09:56 AM. |

Major difference with 3 series is in packages. X1 does not offer lane departure warning, active blind spot detection, side & top cameras, heated rear seats, head up display. I have a 335 with those features and have just ordered an ED 2014 X1. While the extra features are nice having, the only feature I will miss is the headup display.

Yeah, I thought the HUD was just ok until I learned that it was actually using the cameras to read the current speed limit and no passing signs. Very impressive!
