So if you are waiting at a red light and just mash it, chances are that the ATS will be ahead by 60mph.

Still a better representation of the street start at red light thing. Most reported 0-60 mph are done with severe abuse, like dropping the clutch from 3500-4000rpm or brake-stressing auto from 2500, which nobody does regularly.

Well, I don't know about you, but with me when I'm stopped at a red light my starting speed is exactly ZERO.

Unless you dump your clutch, your speed from the stoplight is better represented by the 5-60 comparisons, I think that is what he meant.

Even so, there is no question 335i will be faster from a standstill, due to higher low end torque. The ATS 3.6 will lag a little from the start but catch up at 60. For that reason 335i will feel faster too, because in street driving you often only get to launch from the stoplight and must slow down before reaching 50, or risk a ticket.

Three reasons:

1. The mature E90 owners realized that the F30 forum is the only place to have valid dialog.

2. The E90 Juniors read to much of that "E46 is a true BMW" mythology and are applying it to the F30.

3. BMW announced a $30K 3 Series and got their hopes up.

We can thank BMW for bringing good news to the kids, now they can buy a base F30 (the 320i) with the same allowance they saved for a used E90.
