Buying Used Transfer Case for 2002 325 xi
So the transfer case on my 325 Wagon is shot and I'm reluctant to shell out the 2.5K for a new one...I've found plenty used on eBay for $200-300. Might anyone be able to offer me some advice on how to increase my chances of getting a used one that's in decent shape? I really have no idea what to look out for. Thank You!!!!

Possibly bmrparts.com -Bavarian Auto Recycling, salvage business - call them up and see what they have, and what their prices are. They may even warranty the part, which is probably better than eBay.

The most frequent cause of failure that I have ran into is low oil. I actually had to replace one this morning on an X3 because the bearing locked up.
