Oh the humanity!!!

New 328D XDrive. 3800 on the clock. In line to pull out of a retail center. Some meathead in a work truck decides instead of turning left out of the lot, he'll rapidly accelerate in reverse and drive his big honking trailer hitch through the front end of my new ride. Ouch man. He felt bad. I appreciated that. I would have appreciated it more if he had looked in his freaking mirror. Grrrr.

Ugh... sorry for your loss. At least it wasn't a hit and run.

Yea. that's an ugly hit, but his or his company's insurance should have that taken care of for you.

Ouch! Sorry that happened to you. It always hurts more when it's new and in pristine condition.

You're not alone: Costco parking lot. Lots of traffic. Truck with tow hitch decided to back up at high speed.

What's up with people reversing at high speeds?

It's a conspiracy I tell you! People who drive big trucks with tow hitches don't like bimmers!

That poor thing.

First thing I thought of from that pic: "You'll shoot your eye out kid."

Just got my own car back from similar damage caused by Dodge Ram. It took seven weeks for the repairs and cost the insurance company around 6K. Good luck to you!!

My insurance company is going to subrogate the claim and recover their payout as well as my deductible. It's pretty cut and dried so they shouldn't have much of a problem.

This guy was in a Ram too. Collision center at my dealer tells me three days and $2,500. Mostly swapping out parts. A little bump and paint on the right front fender. The irony is that it will be in the body shop the same day it was scheduled for my complementary "3000 mile checkup".

Ouch....That is why I also own a 1998 Mazda Protege...It takes the abuse of shopping carts and people who don't look when backing out of parking spots at malls and shopping centers.

If you own the car it'll now be your on carfax, so you might want to investigate a diminished value claim. We had a small fender-bender with our old X5 and one dealer suddenly wanted to drop their trade-in offer by 1k once it popped up on carfax. We were able to talk our way around it though.

Ouch. That sucks. This is my recent experience with FUBAR drivers. Some idiot with the folks doing street repairs was driving a backhoe at about 30mph on my street, and sideswiped my parked pickup truck, with the bucket of his backhoe. Insurance company was on the fence about fix vs. total. I had it fixed, $8000 in damage. Morons.
