Is this normal?

I parked my car in the yard with light snow on the ground to see if any leaks were present. I went to start it today and I heard a bunch of popping, clicking sounds of noises as I tried to back it up, the car just died, try again, died, no power. Then I put it in drive and drove it forward to park in the dive way. It's making weird sounds. Does this happen to anyone? Is it just because its very cold?

Also very rough idle

You need to buy a cheap code scanner, and check the codes given. Post back when you have the results, and we should be able to help you. No, it is not normal, and could be a lot of things. A guess would be a waste of time and money. You could als have a broken belt, water pump, or many other things. You need to look under the hood also, to make sure that everything looks ok. Do not drive the car until you know what's going on. If you are not comfortable with any of this, have the car flat bedded to a trusted shop

Or, just jack up the license plates and put a new car under them....

That's what I'm doing this spring with my Wife's 2005 Avalon. Car runs great, has only 70K, and looks like new, but she wants the new one. Don't want to spend 42K right now, but what am I going to do? The things we do for love!

I hear ya....I sold my Saleen Mustang to help finance a new house.....it was worth it in the long run though....

Most of my friends have gotten new wives for less than 42k, you need to shop around!

First, how was it performing before it was parked? How long was it parked?
You also mentioned "yard"... some kind small critter; rodent family, perhaps, may have wreak havoc on your electricals or hoses or something.

I'd suggest; Do a thorough inspection to rule out these possibilities. Jack up the car, place on stands, use a work lamp to see what may not be clearly visible.

If all clear, do a scan for codes, and that would be a good place to start.

When I said yard I ment 10 feet from the driveway, i let it run and it seemed fine, the CEL is on. It is funny you mention electrical hoses because on my way home the EML light came on and the car pretty much just went limp. Let it sit and restated it and I or home fine....

I would, but it's cheaper to keep her! 21 years, the courts would frown on me. I better add that I am jk in case she sees this post!
