Drive Shaft Drag

I have a 323i with drive shaft vibration. It was repaired about a year ago. The rubber gimble and center carrier support were replaced but the problem returned.
Have received different opinions on repair including: "Shaft not intended to be repaired. Requires replacement or modification to make it serviceable"; "Parts are available to repair so it must be repairable".

Does anybody have experience with drive shaft/Ujoint problems?

Driveshafts are not a real common problem. By "rubber gimble" (THAT`S a new one ), do you mean "giubo" ("flex-disc") ?

I bet you a dollar your diff bushing is toast, and might be causing the problem....

Drive shaft repair on these cars is tricky, and the easiest solution is replacement. Was the drive shaft balanced after it was repaired? It has to be spun at a significant RPM on a specialized machine to be sure it is balanced correctly. If the repair only involved u joint replacement, it was done incorrectly. There are places where this can be doen. A local mechanic or DIY is not one of them

I read about the Giubo in the shop manual several years ago but didn't trust my memory of the spelling and didn't have the manual with me. Thanks for your input. The car has almost 200,000 miles on it but still looks and drives like new - except for the drive shaft. I'll check out the diff bushing before proceeding with drive shaft removal.

The repair was done by a shop with a very good reputation but little knowledge of Bimmers. I know they don't have the capacility of balancing a drive shaft.
