How bad is this on the tranny?

So after having the pleasure of riding in a X5M and seeing and feeling Launch control, which was amazing! I decided to try to assimilate this so what I did was the following.

- turn DST on which is off by default
- tranny in sport mode (M1)
-hold brake while rev RPM's to about 2500
-and let go!
Oh man! This thing took off like a bat out of hell! Don't know if I got to exited but it felt almost just like the X5M in launch mode.

I should probably not do this right?

This is probably logged on a microchip somewhere. There is lots of chatter on this site about doing things to void the warranty, such as using 87 fuel. This is the first thing I have heard that, whether it has created an unacceptable stress or not, might prompt BMW to try to deny warranty coverage.

It is an auto and you did a break torque vs trans drop. You will be fine as long as you don't do it at every stop light.
