Mine stays lit for a period of time after the key is out, probably until the car goes to "sleep," I say that it's normal. Although the first time I noticed it I thought there was something wrong as well. If you leave the car and come back in something like 15-20 minutes (maybe less) you'll see that it is no longer lit.

Yup. Turn it off, leave your car. Come back 30 minutes later. If it's still on there is a problem. One thing to note even if it is still on your battary will not be drained (from the light itself). The cars have a parking feature where you leave one side of your lights on for up to 2-3 days. It's a carry-over from Europe where small, dark streets, require you leave your lights on when parking. So they make these cars/battaries powerful enough to manage that.

if you have CA, the car will wake up with the key near. so if you're doing the 30 min sleep test, leave the key away from the car when u go back to check

on a related note... if you don't have CA, you can remove the key after shutting off the engine, yet still start the engine again without re-inserting the key. you can only do this once, then when the engine is shut off again it won't restart until the key is replaced. someone else described this feature much better in an old thread... i'm too lazy to find it now.

Wait. How do you make this happen? When I first got my 325 this would happen sometimes. I thought it was a glitch

Edit: I'm referring to the European half light parking. I didn't know how to quote on the iPhone app, sorry.

On my '07, the manual says to move the headlight stalk up or down (as opposed to in or out for high beams). It also warns against possible battery discharge. See "Roadside Parking Lamps".

My 330xi has the same issue and everytime that i leave it anywere when i come back its dead ... i give it a jump park it some where and when i return its dead again...

no, you have another electrical issue.
an led cannot drain a battery that much.

on an 06 330i, if the battery has never been replaced its probably shot at this point, or there's some other electronics draining the battery (aftermarket, etc)
