Hid question

Should not have issues with errors but don't go too cheap. Also, be aware that it is illegal to use xenons for your low beam lights that do not have motorized auto-leveling. Additionally, your car needs to be equipped with headlight washers for them to be legal. That being said, you likely won't be hassled by the police.

I bought HID kit for my halogens. I know it's frowned upon here. But I highly doubt anyone driving a Bimmer will get pulled over. Maybe Honda, Toyota, Scion etc would. Also make sure it has cancelers and you should be good.

Hid question

The big issue with HID kits with these cars is the lack of a projector lens on BMW's halogen housings. You can pull off the look when you have a projector lens and good aiming, but the current setup throws a lot of stray light and ends up diminishing your vision and can really be blinding to others.

I'm not anti-kits, I just don't think without changing out the housing you're going to have a good looking/safe setup.

I wouldn't do that. If you want to change the color, just get a halogen bulb in the color temp you want.

Not only is it illegal to put HIDs in the halogen reflector, you lose light output on the road because the HID bulb was not designed for use in a halogen setup.

Yes. You can either use XenonDepot HID kit. Uses Philips bulbs and had no error issues when it was installed. Or go to PhilipsXenon and buy a kit. You're looking at $215 or more for the kit
