LED retrofit

Guys, I'm going to start this. What do you think, there are 2 parts concerning headlamps at ETK, this one http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...94&hg=63&fg=05 and this one http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...96&hg=63&fg=05 Should I order all of this parts or the second link is just the spare parts for the hedlamp while first one is a complete headlight unit? What do you think?

Finally someone is going to try this retrofit, excited to see the outcome.

I personally would go with the headlamp that includes all the parts and some of the part numbers for the spare part link you showed up don't come up with pricing so not sure if their available yet. Did you find out if you'll need coding done as well?

Sure I'll need to code it!! This is f01, man! )) If you loose the weight, you'll need to code it again )))))))

When you install LED into X5/X6 you need to code it too. It's not a problem here in Moscow. But no one did this retrofit yet.

I'm in interested in this mod so keep us posted.

How much are we looking at? Wondering if my local dealership willing to do the coding.

Last time I asked them to code my car for folding mirrors, auto close trunk and auto open/close windows, they declined my request right away.

You can code it yourself, get it done remotely or find someone local with autologic with the latest updates who can do the coding. Dealers usually act like you're speaking a foreign language when you ask about coding and act like they have no clue what you're talking about.

There's a few people who do coding remotely, Patrys@BimmerTech is someone I used to get my e92 coded when I swapped my taillights.

Simple explanation

The tech in these cars are pretty much similar to your home computer. If you want your home computer to remember to turn on, with your speakers muted, you can select that on a preference menu and it'll remember it. Similarily you can tell your car computer to fold mirrors and the works. This principle is pretty much a simple way to unify the production and design lines and move to a software based optioning of cars rather than hardware based. Less complication for design and maintenance.

You can code soo much with this generation of cars, but it depends on:
1) how comfortable you are with the changing car settings bit
2) how comfortable you are with the programming lingo of BMW
3) do you want to spend time when u can't get free coding from others or pay a small fee?

Let us know how this works out or you. The new led's on he 7 are absolutely amazing!

I am so excited about this this project! You have no idea! Import taxes in Brazil are over 160% for a new car and I was going crazy over the idea of buying a new 7 because of the LED lights and the Bang & Olufsen sound system ! This will be my next project ! Part numbers for the lights are here, there are two headlamps for the LCI. One headlamp has the LED angels like the new 5 series, the other one is the full LED headlamp;

Guys, just so that we're all on the same page, mostly myself; we're talking about taking the lights from an F01 and fitting them up on an E65/66 model correct? If that's the case, I'm in. I've been looking at doing this myself for the past year.

F01 only I believe sadly.

Any updates? Upgrading from E66 to F02 today.

No way the LEDs will work on the E66, even on the f01 you need to change a few parts to get them to work.

Well, I did full exterior update to the 2013 ALPINA B7 exterior. Just need to install NBT and that's all ))

Actually e-sys is pretty easy to learn and code. I learned it within a few hours and coded all the features I needed, just read the instructions and you're good to go.
