Leaking Windshield Washer Fluid
On Friday I stopped by the dealer because the windshield washer fluid light kept going off. They filled it up and it took quite a lot of fluid. Since they filled it up, it is now leaking drop by drop on the garage floor leaving blue stains. I drove it around and sprayed lots and lots of fluid, but it keeps leaking...
Any ideas? Car is only four months old. Thanks!

Do you have ZCW/headlight washers? My driver side headlight washer broke and I would find a puddle under my bumper every morning. Fixed at the dealership under warranty -- this is a common issue.

Sounds like you have a leaking fluid reservoir. Take the car back to the dealer and have them replace the reservoir. If the reservoir is not the source of the leak, then you are looking at a leak somewhere else (tubing, or pump or sprayer fitting).

hmmm, it leaked on Saturday and on Sunday morning. Drove the car Sunday afternoon and it did not leak. I sprayed most of the fluid out and the low warning symbol came on. I added two bottles of water (32 oz) to see if it would leak again. It didn't. I drove it again in the night and ran the headlight washers. This morning, no leak. Guess I will have to keep an eye on it.
On that note, any opinions as to what kind/brand of windshield washer fluid to use? Didn't know if certain brands can clog up the sprayers (esp. the headlight washers). Thanks.

I have the same problem on my car. I have yet to bring it into the dealer but it should be covered under warranty.

Also happened to me. My SA knew exactly what is was before I finished describing the problem. It was caused by the passenger side head light washer.
Fixed for free. |

I have the same problem. As my warranty has expired I would rather not pay the $100 per hour labor rate. Any suggestions how to do it yourself?

Don't know what caused the leak (under the car) for me. It happened a few times, then stopped. Maybe it was overfilled? I don't know, so I never brought it up when it was in for service.

I had that problem, it was the driver's side headlight washer, fixed at dealer. I don't know what they did.
I think the OP was an isolated case of the car spontaneously fixing itself, so you will probably have to do something.

Hmmmm, just bought a 2009 335xi and noticed the blue leak. Mine is behind the right front tire which is also the approximate location of where you fill it up. Still under warranty, but I thought I would check the forum. The really interesting thing is most posts complaining are from "xi's".
