What new Thing Did You Discover Today?

What new thing(feature, option) did you discover after owning your F01/02 for a little while...or a long while?

I discovered the little button for the computer on the end of the turning signal stalk after driving the car for two weeks! I know...Duh! I just read the manual a week ago, and then still missed it! But its fun to learn as I go!

How'd you activate the speed limit info? I'd love to activate that on my car, it's so quiet and smooth I find myself unintentionally speeding all the time!

(Driving my car all over the Autobahn at 110-150mph probably didn't help either come to think of it)

Go to setting, and speed limit adjustment.

It's not available in the USA. Beamlord is located in Germany. This is the feature that reads the speed limit signs and tells you the speed limit where you currently are.

Ahh, I got all excited for nothing. Doing some goggling and I see the it's not available in the USA.

Sad, I am so used to seeing the current speed limit on my TomTom portable nav. I need to retrain myself to watch for and remember speed limits again .

Hopefully we'll get an update on that speed limit thing...dang cell phone nav has it but not my 2012 car? Messed up man. I guess I should jut watch the signs though, ha!

Well I don't know how useful it's in the states? I mean there is always a speed limit so you should always keep it in mind.

This feature is awesome on the autobahn where the unlimited zones are followed by 120km/h limited zones and you don't always notice that, but the camera does - a real moneysaver!

Are you sure your cell phone has it? Does it use the camera phone? So you mount it on the dash? I've got a Blackberry, and have nothing like that.

The BMW system works even if the speed limit changes due to roadworks, since it's reading real time speed signs, and not just what the speed limit is on that stretch.

My cell phone just has the stated speed limits in its little database and then while driving it warns me if I go over 5 mph over the speed limit. It does not read road signs...but that WOULD be awesome!

On my AH I was able to turn on ventilation with key fob but now can't reproduce it. Will have to read manual I guess but nice feature on hot day

Recently found out the folding mirrors activate by holding the handle for 2 seconds!!! (Keyless entry)

If I hold down the lock button on my key fob, my mirrors fold in.

Funny that we all know that the NAV in the BMW, MB, Audi flagships are inferior to the google app, Garmin etc. yet we always long for the day that the equivalent system ends up in our cars. In spite of short fall I still use my NAV and not iphone because it's integrated. I have had my 7 for a year and the new google maps app for a week and the google is infinitely better. I still can't find a restaurant in less than 2 minutes and 2-3 mess ups on the BMW system. Why don't the big boys just give in to garmin or tom tom and put in a NAV that works for half the price? Anyone.....Beuller?

I feel the same. Was told that this is now in the 2013 model. Can anyone confirm this and if so, can the software be upgraded? That feature is cool and works great in the head up display .

Which brings to NAV updates in general. I noticed that some new routes are not in the NAV (2012 edition). Is there any live update feature or do I need to spend $250 for getting the 2013 version?

This actually was correct, look at the date of the post, there were no 2013's in existence in June...

It is not a standard feature on the 13, included with the Driver Assistance package. I can confirm I have it, displays on HUD and if you select, under the speedometer as well.

My “low tire pressure” light came on this weekend. So I take it to the local tire shop and they confirm that 3 of my 4 tires were low. I drive away expecting the light to go off and it doesn’t. I try the reset and it won’t let me. I later figured out that the car has to be stopped in order to reset the tire pressure sensors.

It has to be stopped to initiate the reset. Once you do, you can drive while its resetting, which in my experience can take upto 5-10 min.

Since it is cold here, I have been driving with the vent on and no AC. Today while driving I noticed that if you change the temperature, the air coming out does not change till you take it all the way up to 84*. I have been running with it around 72*, but was a little chilly so I bumped it up a few degree’s and it didn’t seem to do anything. Then I started going 1-2 degrees at a time and the air temp was the same. The only time it changed was when I went from 83* to 84*. Kinda strange.
