Brake pads ?

Can anyone give some feedback on the best aftermarket brake pads. I am looking for nearly
dust free, equal or better feel and stopping power to the OEM pads,good life, low noise, and all weather all season perfornance. Thanks

That's asking for quite a bit, I mean I know 'tis the season for giving and all, but damn!

It's hard to get the best of initial biting power with the combonation of low dust, but these are some I would recommend.
Akebono or Hawk. I did go with Akebono pads.

I ordered the Front Akebono Pads from Advanced Auto Parts at $15 off at checkout and a $25 off coupon for future purchase over $75. I'll be ordering the rear pads before the $25 off future purchase coupon expires.

I ordered my replacement Zimmerman Z-coated front rotors from AutohausAZ.com. They had a pretty good price and I couldn't find the Zimmerman's for cheaper locally. They have anti-corrosion coating all over them and they help with the pad bedding/break in.

These pads have really good bite on the rotors for being a ceramic pad. I have had it on for 3 weeks and I am amazed at the lack of black dust all over my car. For my driving style these pads actually improve the overall driving experience and I have smoother braking at slower speeds. The metallic pads were very rough stopping for me. Great braking though.

You'll love the Akebono and Zimmerman rotors on this car.

I use Akebono's and they're great for lack of dust. So much better than OEM and performance seems about the same.

I use Hawk HPS. Nearly same feel as oem, but brake harder and have low dust.
I can't stand ceramics, there's no bite! Maybe Akebonos are ok, dunno. Happy with the Hawks. They make no noise and are solid whether hot or cold.

Did you have to put new rotors on with the hawk pads?

My front brakes needed new rotors, the rears did not.
I went with Centric Cryogenic treated rotors from Tire Rack. We'll see how they hold up, so far so good.

What about EBC Redstuff? Does it work as good or better than Hawk HPS?

Never tried EBC.

the dealer just did the front pads/rotors/sensors on my 09 535. I was wondering, does anyone know if I can just remove the stock pads and go with Hawk HPS? Should the brake wear sensor just unclip from the stock pads and click into the Hawks? Its only been about 100 miles at this point since they replaced everything? Im sick of the dust from these pads!

Yes and yes. Just make sure you bed them properly (search for instructions).

I have installed 4 sets of Akebono euro pads in the past 3 years on various vehicles and couldn't be happier with both performance and the little bit of brake dust. I highly recommend them.....Toyota, Saab, BMW, Acura cars installed on.

I have Akebono Euro on mine. Great braking and no brake dust.

I purchased the Centric Power Slot rotors, and the Centric Posi Quiet Ceramic pads. It's a disaster, and I don't know which is the culprit. The brakes are so noisy. They have always been noisy in cold weather, and even more so lately when the car has sit in wet weather. For some reason, most of the noise is always in reverse, like backing out of the drive way, or out of a parking space. Recently, normal braking while the car is in a forward motion, does not feel smooth.

The setup was not cheap, so I don't want to replace rotors and pads again, when I just did so last year, and have like 40,000 miles left on them. The rotors look in ok condition. There is some rusting look in the slots, but the surface looks and feels fine. Maybe the rust from the slots is trasferring to the pads. Any ideas. Not sure how I should move forward?

It's the pads. Ceramics are very squealy. I had them on our wagon and quickly removed them. Big mistake.
I now use Hawk HPS, suggest trying those. No noise and brake at least as well as oem without the dust.

Thanks. As I researched more, I am thinking that it is the pads as well. I have read good things about Akebono, Hawk HPS, and of course going back to stock. The Akebono Euro's are ceramic also, so I worry about the same problem
