THe answer to this has been covered hundreds of times on this forum alone.

You CANNOT get 'reasonable' hp gains for low money on these cars. Period. If you combine multiple things you will see decent results when tuned appropriately.

Replace your model badge with a Dinan badge on the trunk lid. That's worth 20 hp.

I'm talking all motor what's the hype with m3 manifold and fuel rail I'm thinking on purchasing one .. I have dinan chipped ecu dinan exhuast and headers but I've been hearing about the m3anifold , some guy who ran one on his 328is , supposed substantial horsepower gain don't know how true though ??

I think you and I both know that the point in these forums is for BMW owners enthusiast or just people in general who build and work on them to gain knowledge and understanding on them through one another sarcasm Merely childish and arrogant ,, now you and I both know rebadging my e36 is not only a disgrace but sure as hell isn't adding any horsepower what so ever ,,

He's right OP.

Individually, a cold air intake or exhaust will net you about 5 whp each.

But combine a cold air intake with an exhaust, headers, injectors, lightweight flywheel, lightweight pulleys, a tune (or chip as some call it) to tie all them mods together and about $2000-$3000 and you'll net like 30-40whp.

Or if you just wanna feel faster for a relatively low cost, just lose some weight. Shed all unnecessary weight in your E36.

Edit: Also to further answer your question. The stock manifold your currently have on your car is arguably the best manifold for our cars. It's the best flowing and the 96+ E36's often swap over to that one.

Only on a track car.

Daily driven and you lose low end torque, which is what makes the car feel peppy and have more pick up around town.

Proper tune and you won't lose any low end torque.

I doubt people drive aggressively enough around town to actually notice the loss.

Look at me for example. All my power is up top and I have virtually no torque (compared to other M3's) and I don't notice it around town. You compensate by losing weight and shorter gears.

On the highway however...

I you can't deal with sarcasm on a car forum, it's going to be a never-ending uphill battle for you. Best to just roll with it.

But as pointed out above, you won't get any meaningful power gains without spending a boatload of money. Your money is better spent on handling and maintenance.

you'll accelerate quicker but lower fuel economy and top speed. and for what it costs you're better off making actual numbers.

3.91 will be slower to 60. The only time it'll be quicker is on the highway. That is, until you're banging off the limiter at 120mph.

Also, fuel economy will be significantly worse, and there will be more wear on the engine at highway speeds.

Yes I know but most people only want more hp to get a faster take off to feel the power but don't wanna spend the money for it.....so for about 350.00 u can spin the tires off it in city driving ....I personally like mine the way it is and more in looks then speed
