Question Oxygen sensor

Hey guys,

My mechanic told me I need to replace my o2 sensors, he said he can get them for $220 for both but it sounds to me kinda expensive. So he said order them for me... but he said i need 3-wire with connector. Which one should I get for him?

Btw, I have BMW 1998 528i (140 Miles)

Not sure if we have the same ones. I have a 01 525i.

2 Pre cat o2 sensors were 95 shipped from amazon.

Removal and installation of both is 15 mins tops.

The early 528 used the titania sensors and the later models used the zirconia sensors. You need to determine which you need. $220 is pretty reasonable for two titania sensors. but expensive for the zirconia sensors as daytradeoil points out.

Do you know which ECU you have? Or the production date of your car?

All I'm finding with connectors are 4-wires not 3 wires. and he said they will not work only 3-wires ones. Is this right?

I think you car has the MS41.1 DME and needs the NTK 25013 sensors. These are titania sensors which operate differently that the Bosch 13477 sensors that the later cars use. You should confirm this with your mechanic or remove one and look at the sensor. IIRC, the sensor nwill have the NTK marked on it along with BMW.

BTW, I found that amazon has the NTK for about $68 each.

Real OEM says the PN# is 11781427884 for cars up to 04/1998. BMA Auto Parts has it for $77.39 each. I purchased mine from BMA, and have no issues one year later.

Yep, NTK 25013.

I paid about $120 for one of those a few years ago for 98 323is. My 2001 530i uses Bosch 13477 sensors. I paid $80 each for those last year. Now they're like $50. Looks like oxygen sensor prices have dropped. That's good.
