Trunk Size

So I was looking at the trunk today in the showroom and thinking it looked smaller than the one on my 335is. WIth the way the countours are made I don't think I could get more than one set of golf clubs in the trunk w/ out putting the seats down.

Is that true? Anyone have a picture of this working? I don't see it being deep enough to go that way.

Seriously? The trunk is huge. Were you looking at the 335? I have had so much stuff in there, it's unbelievable.

The trunk is actually pretty tiny considering the size of the car. My E-Class was a smaller car and had a seemingly much roomier trunk. Though since it's clear BMW sacrifices some functionality in the trunk for the sake of proportional styling, while Mercedes creates a "boxier" interior/trunk space which heeds less impressive proportions, IMO, and considering I don't put much stuff in the trunk, I'm happy to take the tradeoff. Though, my Benz's trunk space and logical layout of storage did come in handy at times.

Yes I'm sure I was looking at a 550 and I agree w/ K-A. Like I said I think it's got less functional (golf bag) space than my 3 series.

Any chance someone has a picture of it w/ how a set drops in?

I think the trunk is huge. I put in 3 sets of clubs including the bags and shoes. To put it in more perspective, I've also put in 2 sets of clubs with 2 push carts.

huh?? the trunk is huge! i wish they took a foot or two from the trunk and made the rear seat bigger.. IMO the real downfall is the lack of leg/knee room in the backseat. i'm only 6'2 and only short people are comfortable behind me.. not cool for a car of this size

Yeah I agree, wish they had a little more leg room for the back seats

Fixed.

OP, is there any chance at all you were looking at an Active Hybrid? Their trunks are truncated (pun intended).

Nope, 550. I just thought the side molding that came back made the trunk a bit narrow. Glad to hear people haven't had much issue with it.
