2010 vs 2011 X5 35d
Hi All,
I'm about to pull a triger to X5 35d but I have 2 car 2010 and 2011 model year. 2010 has techology, premium, sport, rear climate control packages, roof rails + desirable colors with 45K miles, cost $39.5K 2011 has techology, premium, sport package + less desirable colors and 49K miles, cost is 41K . Both certified to 100K and has clean Carfax with 1 owner. I like both and can't decide... ![]() Any cons and pros for each year? Help me decide, I'm stuck...

The 2011 doesn't have roof rails?

Well, after reviewing a lot of 2011 I must say that it's very common that they have not it installed. They all all pretty much lease returns not custom ordered cars.

Not really. They were still an option in MY11. I had to custom order them because the X5 looked stupid without them.
Back on topic, OP get the MY11 because it's the newer looking LCI model. The pre-LCI X5s look horribly dated nowadays

I believe 10 vs 11 diesels differ only on outside, and roof rails is an option very expensive/hard to add, so if you can think of at least one possible use for them (ski trip, x-mas tree haul, extensive ikea shopping, whatever), go with '10. If fresher look of the '11 matters, go with it then... but in a year they'll both look dated once new X5 comes out.

Yep, after reading about outdated I went to google as well to see 2014 X5 and yes, I'd rather stick even with 2010 then 2014.
I can't buy it new anyway and I need car now and can't wait 3-4 years to get 2014 as 2-3 years old.

"Dated" doesn't mean "bad"... fwiw I like pre-LCI front more; LCI's rear, esp. in dark colors, looks better, though.

Buy the one that fits your needs (color, rails, whever)...when the car hits 100k and yoi go to sell it the difference in value between years will be minimal.
My 2010 had no rails, on purpose. The 2012 had them stock. I'll never use them. Ive got another SUV and a real truck.... A
