Newbie introduction from Chicago

Hi All, I've been lurking in the forum for a few months and thought I should introduce myself here. I purchased a 2010 Alpine White 650i with 14K miles. I am very excited as this is my first BMW. Previous to the BMW, I owned a 2007 RS4 and a 2012 VW GTI (commuter). I am not new to the modding world, so I might perform a few mods on the car. That said, I am thinking about possibly selling my stock sport wheels/tires if anyone is interested. Currently, I'm on a winter set. This forum is very informational and hope to meet some of the locals in the near future.

The RS4 feels more spirited while the 650 feels more like a comfortable luxury cruiser.

Welcome and great looking car! I think the e63 looks best in Alpine White. What wheels are you going to go with?

I was thinking about a set of 21" HRE's but I'm getting second thoughts now. I learned more about my stock wheels and it's actually not bad being forged and all. I also don't know if the 21's will make the car look jacked up.

21s would spoil the look IMO. Nice car.

Nice car and congrat's - I like the stock 5 spoke wheels IMO.

If you are driving the car in the winter I would throw snows on the stock wheels and grab a set of 20s or 21s. Personally I think 22s look a little too large for the 6er. You can always install a set of Eibach springs for $200 if you think the wheel gaps look too large after the upgrade. I love HRE wheels, I think they would look great on your car.

Given I live in the city, I don't really drive my car (especially in the winter months). Just to be safe I do have a 18" winter set on my car. I was thinking about lowering the car to reduce the fender gap but wasn't sure if the 21" wheels will make the car sit higer...when I say this I'm picturing a chevy caprice with huge wheels that almost make the car look like a 4x4.

Thanks, I'll be seeing you around if you ever go to local meets. I am thinking about checking out the 1/2 mile shootout in June.

As for the tint, I scheduled an appointment with Shaded Days about a month ago but there was a bit of confusion on the day of my appointment so I ended up not getting the tint. I'll probably do it in the Spring at another shop.

You'll never forget your 1st! The 6 as your intro, starting off with a bang too! It's going to be hard to drive anything but a BMW now for sure.

HRE's are some of my favorite wheels and they look great on the 6. What model are you looking at? Here is one of my favorite.



I think 21" is the best look for the e63, but of course you will have to dodge potholes, and depending on your tastes you may want to lower the car. Having said that, the wheels the car come with are very, very nice wheels. BMW makes some of the best factory wheels, and these are some of my favorite.

^That is the same wheel I want..it's for sale in the classifieds. Indianapolis red (I think) looks very nice with those wheels!

I'm going to post my stock wheels for sale probably over the weekend and see where it goes. I don't have space to keep multiple sets.

Oh wow! I say pick them up. They will look amazing on your Alpine white.
