Things to do in Houston and surrounding area ?

I'll likely be in a Houston for 4-5 days in a couple of weeks that will include a weekend. Any recommendations on things to do in the surrounding area ?

the sea front at Galveston is sort of interesting - we drove down to corpus on our free days after Houston trip. I would like to do the Houston Space Center if we go back.

But - if you're here before the 20th of March -the Rodeo is on:

Willie Nelson plays on the 18th. ZZ Top on the 21st.

Mein Auto:
Corpus Christie from Houston is a long boring drive, but there is the USS Lexington on display. The roads leading to it can be difficult to recognize the direction of travel.

Houston Space Center is much improved since the new mockup Shuttle is sitting on top of a 747 opened to the public. Still, the Space Center can't compare with the Kennedy Space Center, which has real flight hardware on display. If you don't want to pay the price of admission (lots of discount coupons at hotels etc), you can visit the Saturn 5 with an Apollo capsule at the top. Lots of Apollo flights history inside the rocket park building too. Go to gate 2 at JSC and tell the guard you want to see the Saturn 5 for free. Free parking too. Tell the guard I sent you.

Thanks both.

I'm now in Houston (stuck in traffic on the way in from the airport).

I'll definitely visit the space centre before heading out to New Orleans on Friday morning!

Edit: I have received an invite to the rodeo too !
