2006 325 XIT Navigation

I absolutely love my car but it doesn't have navigation and I was wondering if anyone can make a suggestion for an aftermarket Nav ? any suggestions will be appreciated, i am in New york as well.

Honestly, your best option is a Garmin. You can find lots of clean installs on this board, including info about BMW's mount, which offers nice vehicle integration.

IMO, none of the built in options make much sense.

Putting an aftermarket Nav/Head unit is a big problem with
these cars as there are all kinds of side effects. One of the most
bothersome is the BMW diagnostic computer will not work with a
car that doesn't have its original configuration including the radio.
For this reason the radio should be retained and/or mounted somewhere
else in the car . Any add ons the car may have such as SOS, Bluetooth phone
PDC, satellite radio functions will be lost and may cause permanent error messages.

It is possible to do but the original radio should be mounted to avoid the above
problems.
