Headlamp adaptive controller

I have had the adaptive headlamp failure for quite some time now, drivers lamp does not self test and adaptive turning does not work, when I purchased the car this was a problem and was told it needed a new stepper motor, I have since removed the lamp and done the 1mm hole drain mod which by the way worked a treat! I removed the controller unit and it was full of creamy gunge, the question is does a new controller need to be coded or is it p n p? I have heard it to be both! I am looking to replace in the next couple of weeks.

I believe that the controller is preprogrammed to the right (passenger) side. I replaced that one and It worked, but the alignment was off a bit till I reprogrammed it. Reprogramming was an easy step. I did not have to replace the stepper motor though.

Did u have to pull the bumper?

Yes but not a hard job, the controller is located on the side of the lamp unit, you may get away with just lowering the bumper.

Is there a DIY for the programming? I have just acquired some software and a cable off of e bay and am looking at doing a bit of mucking about with programming etc, doing some reading up as we speak

Actually there are 2 controllers. One is on the bottom and one is on the side. The bottom controls the movement and the side unit fires the lighting system.

No light it's the side, no movement it's the bottom unit. You might also need a bulb and an igniter.

I swapped the ignitors and they worked, I have no light but don't know about the movement.

Where would it be the best place to get these parts?

Tisher. They have been great for me. If you are in a hurry many dealers will match prices. Others will rip you off. Do your homework.
