Unhappy Door handle cover

Can anyone help me? I would like to replace the door handle covers on my 98 328is. Can this be done with out removing the door handle? The weather strip is cracked up. I tried to remove it but it broke in pieces. Is their a special tool? I appreciate any ideas, Thanks!

I don't know what a door handle cover is. The plastic surround on the door panel?

However, welcome to the Fest!

I just did exactly the same thing. Busted the surround into several pieces while prying it off.

No problem. I already have the replacement.

Oh, the part I ordered has a hole cut out for the lock...... which I do not have in my passenger door.... ugh, fml.

Anyway,

The outer Handel? Pop off the little black covers on the inside of the door jam and I used a old flat head screw driver I had heated up and bent into a 90, like a little hook and stick it in the access hole and and it should allow you to slide back the thing that holds the covers on. If that makes sense at all...
