Programming Key - 2004 X3
Hi, I have a quick question about programming a brand new key. I ordered it from the dealership and was told that they would initialize the key, but if I wanted to program it with the extra car options (auto lock doors when in motion, pathway lighting, make the clown nose blink, etc.) that I would have to pay an additional $75 and leave my car with them for a few hours.
Is this correct? I just paid $75 about 2 months back to change the settings. Since they want to keep my car for a few hours and have a technician change some settings stored on the vehicle, it made me wonder if these settings weren't actually stored in the vehicle's memory and not on the key. Could somebody clarify this for me before I waste money unnecessarily? Thanks!
