Just saying...

I mean I know people go all sorts of gaga over these numbers, but the reality is that you could be in both cars when these tests were run, and you'd never even notice the difference.

We run into this with software development. People go nuts if some of our UI components test out to be .3 seconds slower, but the reality is that the end user will never notice it anyway.

Plus, you could run the exact same tests with these car again (an '07 335 and a '13 335) and the numbers might completely flip the other way...
The difference between .9 seconds and .3 seconds is .6 seconds (or 600 milliseconds). A "Blink of an Eye" is about 300 to 400 milliseconds.

Don't worry, the 320i will be as excluded as the 328i. A Bimmer deserves better than to sound like a tin-can.

The 3 series will always be the benchmark. Even if another car is viewed as better by some journalist there is no denying that the 3 is the car upon which all others are compared. Keep in mind that I am not a blind BMW person. Just calling it like I see it. Some may not like the F30, but it is still IMHO the best in its class.

Not detectable by humans from a practical everyday application perspective. We did a scientific study on this at work. We're software developers, so believe it or not this was useful information when it comes to performance characteristics of our software. Anyway, the conclusion was that time less than 1 second is not something a human can detect.

You can try a simple experiment yourself. Count to 10. Now count from 1 to 2 seconds in 100 millisecond increments. 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4...........1.9, 2.0.

Once things are perceived as instantaneous further improvements in speed become imperceptible.

How much extra for a copy of one with the platinum cover? I'm thinking I could casually leave it on the dash as I cruise through the local Walmart, for trolling purposes you know....

When car is put in sport plus which automatically turns off traction control - is this right? Because the magazine just lost some credibility there.

I thought it just turned of DTC, but not DSC.

Cant you turn it off by pressing the button down for 5 sec? It automatically goes in to sport mode.

You can turn it off by holding it down, which as I understand it, takes the car out of sport+ and disables DTC and DSC. I haven't dont this myself, so perhaps a current owner can chime in.

The 07 also pulled 4.8 sec 0-60 times with the auto box. Now it's "fast" at 5.2 seconds with a 6 MT. Hmm.

'07 was the n54 which dynos 20whp higher on average than the n55 used in the e90 AND f30.
