As far as everyone "thinking like me", very few Festers think like me because they are performance enthusiasts. Out in the real world, yes, everyone thinks like me. And nothing I'm saying here is rocket science. Look around, look at the 3 Series drivers you see on the roads, they're not the types of people that fit your profile. They fit mine.

What really impressed me was the subway system, new, clean and safe (no chance of being pushed off the platform), covering an area of greater SF Bay and Sacramento combined, the web reaches most every little district. And apparently they did so in less than a decade.

That is impressive when compared to the BART (and the accompanying environmental impact studies).

Although I was tongue in cheek, it did take two to tango. The requests were not unreasonable.

I fear of an Audi person before I fear of a Bimmer guy

I think the ATS uses the same six speed that was in the E90

Although I never found the GM 6 spd in my E90 bad compared to all the ZFs I drove, the ATS does have a ZF.

Is this a recent change? The info I found points to the GM transmission Hydra-Matic 6L45

Pretty sure you are wrong. ZF does the steering, provide a source that they do the transmission.

Well you may be right partially, I thought the E90 335 uses ZF 6 spd, and I know the F30 uses ZF 8 spd.

As far as the ATS 6 spd, if it is GM, I thought it shifted well, even better than the F30 8 spd, which was in part why I thought it was ZF. The E90 GM tranny is a little slower, but that may just be the ECU. People added aftermarket tunes for their E90 328s all say it shifted much faster.

What a human can discern is probably the difference in throttle response, not difference in shifting speed.

All ATS's which are automatic get the GM 6L45 Hydra-Matic trans which is the exact same transmission used in the old E90 328i. I don't have much love for that trans, at least in how BMW adapted it to the E90. Perhaps with software GM has made it better, but I always found it slow to respond, especially to down shift.

The E90 335 did indeed use a ZF 6 speed auto which at the time was far superior to the GM trans. I haven't driven an ATS, but technically at least, the 8 speed ZF in the F30 is a superior unit in terms of raw capabilities. Again not sure how much software has to do with this.

That transmission from the E90 328i was ****ing awful, and 10 year old technology. Pathetic that cadillac would be using that, but not surprising, old people probably won;t tell the difference.

Aside from fuel economy, I actually found 8 spd bothersome, because I like to use manual mode. Until such time the ECU is intelligent enough to anticipate your cornering intention, only manually shifting the gears will satisfy the driver who wants to blast it out of a corner, short of going with a manual tranny.

Supposedly the ATS with sport mode has such intelligence built in, but during my several test drives I never was able to detect it.

So if I am limited to continue use the manual mode, the 8 spd is less appealing. In addition, the smaller size shifter in the F30, while very nice to admire as a piece of art form, is not as easy to grab on and shift all the time. It is designed for you to look at from a distance, not to grab a hold of

You always have such a disdain (A thing or idea of worthless value, something worthless, regarded with distain, generally used in an insulting manner - Urban Dictionary) for "old People". I hope you are not jinxing yourself to never reach an advanced age?

The word you are trying to use is disdain. Not distain.

I appreciate the attempt to define it but please use the correct word next time

I guess Urban Dictionary can't spell either. (Fixed) thanks for the correction - you, the person who acts like a grumpy old man.

Why would ever go to Urban Dictionary to define something?

I would suggest the next time you try and insult someone, please know what your talking about. And happy valentines sweety

I did a search in Google for Distain and that was the link I got.

I just arrived late last night after driving 17 1/2 hours straight through from PA to Jupiter, FL. I'm giving myself a pass and allowing my (rare) spelling error.

My '08 Tahoe. It's not the best vehicle for navigating on hills and winding roads but it's fantastic on the highway. It just turned 63,000 miles and I may need to recycle it soon for easier duty in favor of getting a new replacement vehicle. I don't want to run the risk of something failing and stranding me (and my dog Suki) somewhere on I-95 at 3:00 AM in the middle of nowhere country.

It got 17.6 MPG. Not bad for a vehicle that size with an 8 cylinder engine.

Not to mention that not only old people may not notice it, apparently after all those people in the automotive field compared all the cars/trucks, they did not notice it either, and named ATS the year's best a few times lately.

So it may not be disdain, just merely following his older brother to learn how to raise eyebrows. It seemed to have worked.

My wife and I both liked the Range Rover Sport model that we saw at the Philly car show, but, seeing them last on the reliability list gives me concern.

The Range Rover Sport is a very popular SUVi on the streets & highways of San Diego. The most consensus color choice appears to be the bright white. Black & silver are next choices. My friend has an 06 with the Supercharger . I drove it one night , that Rover moves out. Very luxurious interiors, but tough on gas mileage , especially the Supercharger version. They are also the "in" SUV among the Hollywood & music crowd. If money iss no object Beden 1 , I say go for it.
