1999 740i HID xenon conversion for $60 with pics
For almost a year now Iv really been missing my factory xenon's that came on my 540. Iv been searching around for awhile and I came across this site in the E39 section http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/DD...ast-35W-or-55W. Everyone that says they ordered these said they have had no problems with them. They also come with a lifetime warrenty
I ordered the H7 35 watt 6000K kit with error eliminators and brakets. Total cost with $20 for shipping came out to $60. The box arrived today (took about 1 week). Took me a total of 40 mins to install and that was taking my time. You have to drill a hole in the back of the light cover but no big deal. I used a small hole saw. Its all plug and play. No cutting of wires. It gets its power from the factory plug. Enjoy Drivers side: I mounted the ballast on a mount already there. ![]() Passager side: I mounted the ballast to the ABS mod. I cleaned the inside of the finder and the back of the little box rubbing alcohol and 3M taped it. Its very solid ![]() Best part, no "check light" error ![]() Stock 55w halogen(right) vs 35w HID(left) ![]() ![]() I cant wait until it gets dark. Hope this helps people looking to upgrade there halogens to an HID conversion.

98 740iL HID to Xenon conversion
Thanks! It was your article and description that led me down the path of ordering from DDM. 98 slightly different set up, so I ordered 55W H1 6000k bulbs. Hoping install will be exactly the same with hole saw, slight dremel work on bulb bracket, same exact mounting spots available. And hopefully, no light cautions when complete. Kit should arrive any day now. I'll post follow up pics and notes from install.
