Jumped Time?

Found a 540 on craigslist, says it jumped time. What damage could this have done?

It probably broke a timing chain. It's fixable however I would just leave it alone.

I wouldnt want to risk it. Off-time motors are a nightmare.

TO GIVE A BIT MORE DETAIL INCASE YOU WANT IT..

means timing was off, either set wrong or chain failure.. either way.. VALVES COME DOWN WHEN PISTON COMES UP = BENT VALVES AND POSSIBLY HOLES IN YOUR PISTONS!
my whole head had to be replaced on my m20.. dodge stealth timing belt broke.. just left it there! for good

if put together set wrong and not ran.. may be ok! reset/recheck it 5x then try 2 start

Thanks imae34driver, thats more of what i wanted to know. They said it was being serviced at a BMW dealership, and after they got it home a few days later it died on the highway, towed back to dealer, and they were told it jumped time. I didn't know if it would bend valves or not, basically it may need a motor.
