I thought I saw that code a while back. No idea what it means.

If I'm not mistaken....it's a THERMOSTATIC error.

I replaced the thermostat and entire coolant system recently. Engine temp seems correct in hidden menu. What exactly is thermostatic error other than the engine thermostat? Thanks.

I just ordered the thermostat, hadn't had the chance to do anything.

When you checked the faults using INPA (presumably), which module did the fault appear in?

Here is a screenshot of INPA

Hmm....I just scanned my E66....got the same error in KOMBI. I'm not experiencing anything different or abnormal.
I will have my Autozone's guy scanned it and hopefully get that hex error translated into something more understandable. |

Sorry you have the error too....thanks for checking out. Definitely let me know if you shed any light on what this means. Thanks again.

Well, my Autozone guy scanned the error...."cold temperature warning". He cleared the fault. It hasn't come back for several days. It's been warm here in Texas.
I checked my engine temp...never higher than 102. He said, it might be related to other issue but for now I shouldn't be worried about it. Last edited by hd750Li; 12-17-2012 at 05:01 AM. |

Sorry to revive an old thread, I'm getting a similar reading... not sure what it means will check INPA later tonight. Car drives fine, nothing out of the ordinary. I changed my thermostat about a month or so ago and cleared all codes so I know this is new.

So below are some screenshots of faults from INPA, I was getting some compile and other errors trying to use INPA. But below are what I was able to get, hopefully someone can give me some insight on what it all means. I once again cleared them,

I'm afraid I don't know off hand, but I would say its likley what the "D" ones all in close range of each other may be CAN errors, which arent much to worry about.
Can you not access the seperate modules for diagnosis with INPA? |

When I try to access each module I get errors. I'll have to run INPA again and get the errors.. But to answer your question, No, I get the errors and goes back the the previous menu.

My fault came back also after clearing. Have you checked your bottom hose temperature of the cooling system with INPA? My hose always ran too cool according to SFBay (see recent coolant thread). He says this means my coolant pipe running through the valley pan his leaking. Theory is that it is leaking but not bad enough to come out the weep hole. This causes the engine temp to climb above 105 degrees celsius when at idle even though the thermostat is rated at 105 degrees. Mine will get to 107 degrees at idle. Maybe this is what is giving the cold temperature error 8E111 because the bottom hose is too cold. Just a theory....trading mine in today.

thermostat is dragging, means the inlet and outlet temps are too far from each other. I seen this before. Time to change STAT.
