Great info - Thanks for posting. Am I reading the 6 series right- 2014 model year starts
production next month? I am interested in a 650 coupe and have been holding off until the updated Idrive 4.2 was available, and had heard March '13, but I did not expect it to be a '14 at that point. Also do you know when specifics of the MY2014 changes will be available?
(hoping BMW would add a soft close trunk feature to the 6er, big oversight IMO)

How soon after production begins can you expect to pick up on European Delivery? I am looking at the F31. July would be ideal but I assume unlikely.

I believe it's 1-2 months later. But you shall definitely verify with your CA.

I can tell SA is South Africa. However, what is S?

No F80 for MY2014? I guess we will have to wait another year to see the new M3, I'm a bit surprised since I thought it was due for launch as MY2014. It's ok for me though, if it's good I will look at an ED in fall 2014.

SULEV (low emissions) version. Sold in a handful of states, mostly CA and northeast.

I think the volume is so low that they couldn't justify separate models. It was either AWD-only, or no wagon.

Out of curiosity, exactly what is the problem with bringing in different models? Much has been made about the cost of "federalizing" different models, yet I've never been able find what that cost is to a manufacturer.

BMW brings in many different models of other vehicles, and the underpinnings of the 328i touring are essentially the same as the sedan, no?

Exceptions have been made by BMWNA in the past after consumers protested (E60 M5 with MT comes to mind), why not a campaign to bring the F31 in RWD, too? Can BMW bean counters put a number on just how many models would need to be sold to justify the cost of bringing another model to the US?

It's not like we're insisting on an F31 with the N55 (we already gave up on that), just a wagon without the weight/cost/maintenance penalty of AWD.

Interesting. According to the MY2014 Production Dates PDF the 4 Series Coupe will be made in Munich, not Regensburg like the 3 Series Coupes.

I guess that I can scratch Regensburg off the list for my M4 ED!

Nope. But funny enough, there will be a MY 2013 328xi SW starting with March production that will only run for 4 months.

Regensberg is worth a visit, there is a great old town from the middle ages that was pretty much untouched by the war with a bridge across the Danube that dates from the 1100's.

We only spent a few hours there, but its a place we want to go back to on a future trip.
