It may be old but until they release new official information why should we suspect it is wrong. The whole thing about the delay until July is just a rumor and if it hadn't been posted online (BMWBlog) none of us would be questioning the "old" information.

Anyone can start a rumor about anything so I will treat it as such until I hear different from my dealer or BMW NA.

I have no faith in that stupid rumor on BMW Blog. It absolutely makes zero sense and is extremely contrary to past BMW practices.

Many here have commented that they would prefer to wait for MY 2014 to have the upgraded nav. This past week I have been saddled with a very lackluster 535ix loaner while my M3 is in surgery after hitting a sinkhole that was in pothole drag. My f10 loaner has the new nav and after a week I am not sure I prefer it. Admittedly I have only had a week to become familiar with it but my impression is that it may offer too much info. I find I must take my eyes off the road to scrutinize the rather confusing plethora of details offered by the new map. Perhaps in time, you accommodate yourself to this new reality, and instead of confusion you find utility. For me, it would have cost me $3K additional and at least 4 additional months to get a 2014 X3 35i M Sport. After living with the new nav this past week, I do not have any buyer's remorse.

The X3 will get the next generation of Navi with the optional touch pad. The 2013 535i is still on the last generation and the update is expected in the LCI F10 which will be release this fall.

Thanks for the info - the nav in my new 535ix loaner has a different screen and visuals than the nav in my recently delivered X3 35i. I assumed this was the updated nav that is forthcoming in the 2014 X3.

Sorry but I'm confused. Does that mean there are two versions of Nav in production in MY2013 right now? 2013 X3 has one that is different from 2013 535. And none of them is the latest version which we expect later this year.

You got me...the nav in my recently delivered X3 35i M Sport has different graphics than the nav in my 535ix loaner. The nav in my X3 looks the same as my nav in my 2012 M3 except the X3 has updated maps.

Optional touch pad? I don't see anything mentioned in the 2014 pricing guide that lists this, do you know the code or have more details?

Touch is OK on my Garmin and mobile phone but would not really like it on in-car integrated Nav. I prefer the i-Drive controller.

By "touch" i believe he is referring to the touch I drive controller. Much like what is available in the AUDI mmi system. BMW is working on the top on the I drive control to be able to accept finger written information. From what I have seen it will be first released in China, where their language characters make any sort of navigation system difficult to select from, and then in the US.

The current info I have seen says this is still some time away from being rolled out to the US line up.

OK. On re-reading I see it is touch'pad' and not touch'screen'. I think I heard about it.

So the bad news. I received confirmation from my dealership that the new navigation system will not be until the July production MY 2014.

Unlike some others I cant postpone my build date to wait for it.

I really hate being disappointed when buying a $58,000 vehicle. I know the navigation isn't everything, and it will still be a great car, but it will always nag me that it wasn't the most updated and I got screwed by BMW.

The other thing that is starting to piss me off is that the 2014 costs more. So those of us with the first batch, who are paying more for the new model year and updates, are not actually getting anything new but having to pay the price increase!!!

Any chance you can share your dealer's info. I'd like to get my CA to contact them as he hasn't been able to confirm the July date for the new nav.

If true that is bad news for my wife and I. Our 2014 X3 just went into production. BMW told the sales manager that it would have the new Nav /iDrive last week so I have an out if I want. I like BMW as a company however the 2014 X3 communication has been awful. Why did they even roll out the MY 2014 X3 with no new features just to upgrade it July? With BMW the model years now mean absolutely nothing except as a sales gimmick. The roll out of the 2014 X3 is just an absolute fiasco for the X3 Enthusiast and those that trust BMW.

It has been a bit of a farce, the bmwusa web page still shows the '13 as the BYO option. However, I'm still waiting for hard evidence that July is the true start of the new Nav install. I hope not, but like pharding I have an out if it is and will wait for it.

Ironfan:

My dealership is Patrick BMW in Schaumburg, IL. My CA is Nic Saccotelli. Perhaps you will get the friendly receptionist. She will cut you off mid sentence and put you on hold

Pharding:

I agree 100%. The communication really is a fiasco, whatever the outcome is. Not at all what I expect from BMW. Right now I am just trying to find my happy place and not be so mad about it (so far it isn't working ). Perhaps your dealership is correct......

If anyone else hears anything please post to let us know. Perhaps it will be the first one to get there's in. Pharding if yours went into production today you will probably have early next week then?

I must say, I think ive had it bad with my dealership that I went to this past weekend, they said that the 2014 have been in production already for a few weeks ! LoL

Anyways... They gave me a copy of the pricing guide, and I see under the Drivers Assistance Plus ZDB, that it can not be ordered with ZCW (Cold Weather) But, BMWCONFIG allowed this combo?

Anyone order Drivers Assistance Plus with the Cold Weather ?

I appreciate your frustration and disappointment however it is very difficult to predict the vagaries of the car biz. It is inexplicable why accurate info about MY2014 has not been forthcoming.

In February I considered cancelling my 2013 order in order to get the new nav. In the end, cancelling was not an option and I took delivery of my new loaded X3 35i M Sport last month. Yes, it would be nice to have the updated nav but after all is said and done it is not that important - the car is so good you will find yourself sporting a giant grin ear to ear, every time you push the start button and hear the rasp of the twin turbo six.

BTW I would consider the new nav to be more important if the present system was seriously deficient, but I find the current nav, in both my M3 and X3, to be intuitive, accurate, and fun.

I have a strong feeling that no information will be released to the public until April 1st. After the NY Auto Show or some kind of product release at the Auto Show. Then they will update BMWUSA website all at once. Just an opinion of course.

Interesting I called them earlier and they told me they didn't have that info. Someone in their communications dept needs to get the boot! I am happy though. Mine is scheduled to be done on April 3rd!!

GRPNBMW I just got off the phone wth them and was told the same thing. They did not have that kind of information and that I would have to ask my dealership.

Perhaps PHarding has some inside contacts there Take a look at his signature, looks like he has done some lobbying before with BMWNA.

I asked my dealership to confirm the information again and I am waiting to hear back.

Atleast the customer realtions team informed me that my car started production and will be completed 4/2.
