Vrsf or Wagner catless downpipe

Does anyone know how much of a fuel smell these two down pipes give off? Can you smell it inside the car?
Am looking at getting one of them but I don't really want to smell fuel in the car. Just something I had heard that I want to confirm.

You will get a smell when the windows are down and stopped. To me it's mild and not overly annoying but is there.
I will say the positives of a DP outweigh the negative of the smell.

They will smell period once you take the cat out of the system. Question is what your tolerance level is. I have never used downpipes but my Cobra is a header to sidepipe system with no pollution controls on the engine.

They smell but it does not bother me. I expect modern gasoline in modern computer controlled engines burns much more completely than in the bad old days where it really smelled.

Just grab a VRSF downpipe and you'll be good to go. It will sound GREAT with your stock exhaust system with zero drone and stock-like sound at low rpm.

Remember you are buying an empty pipe. The best one is the one that fits the easiest & costs the least.

Check threads for install issues & stay away from those brands. Check for the best pricing on what is left.

Cool, Remus is a great sound.

A Downpipe will make your car loud, be aware. You may want to add a second resonator somewhere within the setup.

My friend has resonators in place of his muffler in a 2007 335i and it sounds absolutely amazing! I have a magnaflow muffler right now and I like the sound, but I'm thinking of doing the same thing.

Resonators really clean up the sound of the engine - tune it the way the engineers wanted the engine to sound with a minimal decrease in overall sound volume. It like "tunes" the exhaust note and gets rid of rasp.

Personally, resonated exhausts sound better to me. BMW makes a good factory resonator.

Would not bother with one. They need to be tuned to the system to be really effective & you already have a custom system.

Lots of development money & time goes into factory resonators to get the 'right' sound for the car.

Basically I just want to use map 2 on the jb4.
I have the jb4, Remus axle back exhaust.
So what do I need to run map 2?
I just ordered a charge pipe as well...is it needed for map 2?

Thought you already had made a decision to get one & were just shopping brands. You will need it on the 435.

My 335is did not need them to run Map 2 just good gas, 92 or better, we have 93 here. The IS cars came with a boost tolerant ECU that is different then the standard version.

What I'm trying to achieve is to safely use map 2 on my jb4.
Thought I needed a down pipe but others are saying good gas is good enough

You don't absolutely need a downpipe, but if you want to make the most out of map 2, have better engine sound and quicker turbo spool, it certainly doesn't hurt. You already have the jb4 so you wouldn't be spending much anyways.

Best way to find out. Fill with the best (highest octane) you can get locally. Drive around to get it mixed with the leftovers in the tank.

The make 2 or 3 runs from 2500RPM in 2nd gear @ WOT through the shift into fourth gear. Review the logs & see if you have any issues. This will take you into the triple digits so find a safe spot like a long straight interstate on ramp.

If your normal premium is 93 you will have a little more leeway than people who have 91.

Bottom line is you have to use the logs to see where your engine is at.
