Purchase of a 2017 440i convertible

Hey Guys,

After leasing a 16 X3 for my wife last year, I am thinking about buying a 17 440i convertible for myself. I have mixed feelings about it because I will be getting rid of my 2005 Chevy SSR. I purchased it in 10/04 and it is spotless, loaded and gets lots of attention. As most of you know, it's also a hard top convertible. But, it's 12 years now and it is probably time.

I've done my homework, know exactly what I want and will shop several dealers and will start at the invoice price and work down. My question to you all is, do you know of any discounts that BMW is giving to customers now or trunk money that they are giving to dealers for the end of the year. Is the option credit of $1,000 still available? I just joined BMW CCA a month or so ago so the $500 rebate is not available to me yet.

The 440i convertible comes with Zenon adaptive auto leveling headlights. They should have put the LED lighting package as standard equipment on this vehicle as they do on the 340 GT. I'd like to save the $1,900 that BMW wants for the LED lighting package and put it on the Tanzanite Blue metallic paint. I won't drive this car much at night and then not that far. What do you guys think?

Any advise that you can give would be appreciated. Thanks.

All My Best,

Joe from Sarasota

The LED's are awesome, but the Xenons should be more than adequate.

Tanzanite is gorgeous, but the factory paints all the Tanzanite orders in batches. You may wait 4 to 6 months for the car. Which means whatever deals / incentives etc. will be expired (you cannot lock an incentive for 4 to 6 months). And the 440 is brand new, so you can forget about trunk money.

Sounds like you need to spend more time on the Ask a Dealer Forum doing your research....

Joe, I just made a deal on a fully loaded 2017 440xi convertible that is being trucked to North Florida from a dealer in Virginia.

The $1,000 "options" credit remains in effect at the current time. If you qualify, you can join USAA and, even if you don't sign up for insurance or anything else, get another $1,500 off the price.

The lighting package is spectacular, especially if you get it after-market coded to return to the superior European automatic dimming specs. It would have been nice if it were included as standard equipment, but if you can afford it, I highly recommend it.

My deal was complicated by a two-for-one trade and the need to truck the car here, but FWIW, I paid a few hundred bucks over invoice on the top line, but after the $2,500 in various credits, it came in at a bit more than $2,000 below invoice.

Happy to answer any other questions...

Hey Guys,

i wrote to you all a couple of weeks ago that I was thinking abut buying a 17 440i convert. A lot of you were very helpful and gave me some good advice and I spent a lot of time researching and pricing out the car and color I wanted. I currently drive a 05 Chevy SSR that I bought new in 10/04 when I retired. It's color is Aqua Blur, it's spotless, a show car, has 400 HP and 400 lbs. of torque, graphics on the hood, top and rear and 20" chrome wheels. It's me! The short of it is that I just can't get rid of it and will not be buying the 440 convert. now. I leased for the first time a loaded 16 X3 for my wife last year. It is a three year lease and I'm sure I'll be hearing from BMW next year to end the lease early and to get something else. So, we might do something with the 440 then.

I want you all to know that Adrian Avila from United BMW Gwinnnett in Duluth, GA. was fantastic and would have given me a wonderful deal off of MSRP on a custom ordered 440i convertible in Tanzanite Blue Metallic with the Coral Red interior. We worked together for over a week and I feel bad that I will not be getting the car now but I just can't get rid of my SSR with a happy heart, so why do it. But, when I do I will be buying it from him. Adrian and his store are a Board Sponsored advisor and he can be reached at his private line 770 622-8309 or his cell 770 329-9793. He is the best!

Merry Christmas,

Joe
