E63 / E64 6 Series (2004 - 2010)
The E63/E64 BMW 6 Series builds on BMW's sporty heritage with aggressive lines and an incredible motor to back the design up. Available in coupe and convertible trims with a standard 4.8 liter engine producing 360 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque, the 6-series is a popular choice that exceeds expectations.

leaking issue

El Nino has dampened the joy of new ownership of a 2005 E63.
Outside during an extending rain, the car's carpet under and behind the front passenger seat was soaked. It appeared the water came from behind the glove box.
Does anyone have experience and advise with this issue on E63 cars?

It's a known issue with blocked scuttle drains. These are little rubber spouts that drain out water from underneath the areas under your microfilters. It also affects the e60 5 series. Here's a thread on the 5 Series, it will help understand the issue. My advice is to remove or push through the the rubber spouts.

You can see the drain on the driver's side under the brake master cylinder (this is a right hand drive car in the picture):

I'm the passenger side a view of the drain is obscured by the ECU housing. I've seen posts suggest using a couple of straws end to end and blowing in to hear if the water gurgles!

Here is a shot of the offending runner spout that fill with grime and get blocked, allows water to accumulate and eventually overflow via a wiring portal in to the cabin of the car:

As I suggested above just remove them rather than clean them out, they will only fill with gunk again!

You could use an open metal hanger to push the spouts down in to the hole and that will be fine. If there's water in there watch out for your feet though!

Any time!

Have a quick check for wear on the door seals too. They are probably fine but worth checking.
The other area to consider is the sunroof drains getting blocked. Do you have the glass roof?
However in all likelihood its your scuttle drain spouts that are blocked.

yes, I have the glass roof. I have the rubber floor mat on the passenger side, and could tell water had dripped on the top and moved down, assuming the water continued to the rear floor.

Do you own the convertible? If so the drains in the bottom of your vert top box are plugged and its about to ruin you amp/sat radio receiver! Do a search here as there are many threads, and address ASAP as you might have a chance at drying out/saving your electronics.

Hey Herb - I was on lunch break... but I'm supposed to be working right now! Generally quite pleased with the Richt hire (I think GA fans might be sorry if things don't work out as well as they hope). Happy New Year to you and yours as well!

I think it was time for a change. I am glad he got another good job, & I hope he can teach his new players some self discipline. He certainly has no problem with sitting down anyone that gets out of line. I wish all coaches had his morals. It would be good to see Miami & UGA meet in the national championship in the near future.
