Sales tax issue in PA after ED

Hi everyone! I did my ED back in May 2012, and received the car in July. The state of PA (where I live, purchased the car and registered the car) is now saying I owe "use tax" on the imported vehicle. Now, I obviously paid sales tax when I paid for the car - it's just a paperwork mixup somewhere along the line. But I was wondering a few things:

1. I have to provide documentation to the state. But I don't have anything that has both my signature and the breakdown of taxes paid. I'm going to send them a copy of my yellow copy of the invoice, because that has the line for taxes. Anyone have any better suggestions?

2. Has anyone else had this happen? Wondering if BMW is screwing it up, or (more likely) it's the state of PA.

3. Weirdly, the state believes the value of my car to be around $29k. I paid sales tax on the full $42k. Any idea what that's about?

Would appreciate any thoughts on this matter!

Pennsylvania just wants to make sure the taxes were paid. Your dealer should have a copy of the documents indicating that taxes were collected at time of purchase. Start there.

Same thing happened to me in SC. I called the dept. of revenue and all they needed was a copy of the bill of sale, showing SC sales tax had been paid. Easy.
