Angry 2013 M6 Recall !!!!

Hi everyone
I took delivery on my 2013 M6 Coupe last Friday, 9/14/12. i just gat a call from my dealer and BMW telling me not to drive it because there is an emergency recall issued today, 9/21/12. Evidently there is an issue that causes sudden drop in oil pressure. It appears only to be on some VINs, but I would call your dealer immediately. They said that they do not yet know how long it will take to resolve, because the cause is suspected to be the oil pump, but i guess they are not sure...

No mention of 2012 M6 convertibles being included with this recall. Seems strange. I would think that it is likely these vehicles also could be affected. If anyone receives any confirmation of this please post it up here.

Well - the VIN for my incoming M6 shows on the list. Bummer. Car is in the "finishing touches" stage. I'll say. I've already sent 2 emails to my dealer to have a discussion tomorrow.

Only cars produced between July and September 2012 are affected. That shouldn't cover any model year 2012s. I'll update the thread with more details once I get through the docs I have.

The official recall has been posted but the NHTSA. Has anyone heard anything from BMW?

NHTSA Recall Campaign Number 12V475000
Vehicle Make / Model / Year
BMW / M5 / 2013
BMW / M6 / 2013

Manufacturer: BMW OF NORTH AMERICA, LLC - Report Receipt Date: SEP 28, 2012

Component: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE
Potential Number of Units Affected: 696

Summary:
BMW is recalling certain model year 2013 M5, M6 Coupe, and M6 Convertible vehicles, manufactured from July 19, 2012, through September 11, 2012. Due to a manufacturing process error, the tolerance between the engine oil pump's drive shaft and the pump's rotor was not within specification. As a result, the pump's driveshaft could separate from the rotor.

Consequence:
Separation of the pump's driveshaft from the rotor could lead to a sudden loss of oil pressure causing the possibility of complete engine failure, resulting in an engine stall-like condition, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.

Remedy:
BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the oil pump, free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin during October 2012. Owners may contact BMW at 1-800-525-7417.

Notes:
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

My car also

I just purchased an M6 in mid November and have just 1k miles today 12/5 and have used two quarts of oil. I figured something had to be wrong so I joined your forum to find out I am not the only one.
Braman BMW West Palm Beach did not call to alert me about this recall. Getting through to the White House is easier than getting their service departement. This is the second really bad experiance I have had with buying cars this year.
I fear I'm doing something wrong or maybe I should just walk.

Well today12/7 I no longer own an M6. Trying to get what was my car sorted was impossible and I can now safely say I will never purchase another vehicle of anykind from Braman Motors of West Palm Beach.
Is it that most people in the motor trade are dishonest. It seems to me they will do anything and say anything to get your money and after that you are on your own.

I did recieve a full refund from the dealer but only after threatening legal action, what a very frustrating day.
Okay now to find a pleasant Car dealer if that is possible.
I hate buying new cars.
