4 Series Price Estimates?
So we know BMW is re-branding the 3er coupes as the 4 series.
Currently the base 328i coupe (E92) is sold at a $1850 premium relative to it F30 counterpart For the 335i coupe the premium is a mere $100 more at $1950. 2013 328i: Sedan - $36850 Coupe - $38700 ($1850 higher or 5% more) 2013 335i: Sedan - $43150 Coupe - $45100 ($1950 higher or 4.5% more) Some articles I've read estimate the base MSRP of the 428i to be right around the $40k mark. I imagine BMW will try to keep this number in the high $30s just to keep the leading price digit a 3. So assuming the premium paid for coupes right now is around $2000, what do you think the premium will change to when the coupes are now going to be branded as the 4 series? For an upper bound, the 528i comes at a $9100 premium relative to the 328i (sedan). The 535i is only an $8500 premium relative to the 335i, however.

I read somewhere some insider revealed BMW only plan to stay in the same price range. $2-3k extra.

after buying my wife's 335 and knowing what that cost me, I'm guessing the buyer is on the hook for about $54K when all is said and done.

I'm guessing that the 4er will be differentiated from the 3er in the same fashion as the 6 from the 5. Ergo, $4k+.
Maybe I'm just a pessimist though.
