Fog light replacement.....

Fog light malfunction....
Can I replace it with any fog light for the warning to come up or does it have to be from the bmw dealership?

I am told all you need todo is change them. No programming required if that is what you are asking.

I am replacing mine with MTEC 9006 HB4.

seems to cover it, I did notice TXSTYLE has done this on a post facelift model so PM sent. Will update when he replies.

I may have mine done by the guy that does the rest of it (angel eyes) depending on the price quote, etc. If all fails taking out bumper covers does not really scare me but I really dont have time and would rather it be done by someone who has done it in past.

Just a quick update, I have not gotten quote from dealer yet but a local body shop said they would drop bumper let me put the bulb in (or they will after they look at the bulbs) for $150.

Since for someone who has not done this like me, the work can take a long while and its worth the $150 to have someone else do it, Worst case I will take the bulbs to the body shop and have them do the work.

Body shop hourly rates are sometimes lower than dealer and in many cases they can do the work at faster pace. Since this is really not a tech task more body work anyway seemed reasonable to call bodyshops for quote .

That's the same cost of a decent kit..it's really not that difficult to drop the bumper. I think another member (Keif) did a DIY guide on it which was spot on.

There is a full write up in the DIY section. I have no mechanical skills and it took me 2hrs the first time following the instructions as I was super careful, since then I can now remove the bumper and both headlights in under 20 minutes.
