335xi has been in the shop for 2 weeks and still not fixed!!!

Im pretty frusturated and tired of driving a loaner car. My car has been at the bmw dealership for 2 weeks now, first they said it was the injectors, then they said it was the turbos. So far new injectors and turbos have been installed in the car, car still isn't putting out enough pressure to the turbos, dealer has also reprogrammed the computer in the car. Now bmw headquarters is gettting involved checking everything the dealership has done. At first it didnt bother me because the car is still under warranty so im not paying anything out of pocket but now its getting ridiculous. Yesterday made it officially a month ago that i drove the car off the dealership parking lot that i bought it from. i feel its ridculous that a car that i bought a month ago and only driven for not 2 full weeks has been in the shop for 2 weeks. Im at the point that since it is taking them this long to fix the car and regardless if new parts are being installed in the car, i don't want the car anymore!!!! Is there anyway i can request to have a different car given to me, quite frankly in my opinion i basically see the car as being a lemon since its taking this long and the dealership hasn't finished fixing it, it also seems that they can't quite figure out what the problem is so thats why bmw headquarters is involved now. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Was it used? If so previous only probably thrashed it...

If you've got over 20k miles I'd be psyched for brand new turbos that I could properly break in myself That said I'd get tired of driving a loaner too especially if it was a 328

yes the car was leased before i had it, it has 43k miles on it, and yea im tired of driving a loaner, but its also a 335, but i would rather be driving my own. My theory is, if its having these types of problems now, what problems could i possibly have later. thats the way i feel about it

WOW lucky! fresh turbos almost at the end of the warranty (although I think turbos are covered till 80k)

Its unsettling, but personally I'd be ok once I got it back

I don't know of any states that lemon law preowned cars so you probably won't get any help on that end.

We get it Loso81, you have car problems. But just update your original post (or your 2nd, 3rd, or 4th), don't keep creating new threads. It's just noise. Keep it simple.

Good luck getting your car back, soon. Now I'm done.

You have little to bitch about. BMW is covering this for you, you bought a used BMW.
I drove a loaner Toyota while my brand new Avalon sat for 6 weeks waiting on a climate control system.
I would think BMW is uncertain what the true issue is and are investigating solutions rather than just throw more parts at it.

If I could get any parts thrown at a car my order of happiness would be:
1. Engine
2. Transmission
3. Turbos

Top 3 isn't bad at all.

Things work until they don't. I doubt they threw some super glue in the engine and sold it to you.

you took those out before you brought the car in, right?

the field engineer is probably going to be taking a very close look at your car-- he makes the rounds, and they may be holding your car for him to take a look.

lease cars are like renting out your house: people aren't going to treat it like they would as if they owned it. I'm sure people drive the heck out of their leases just like people drive the heck out of rental cars. Regular scheduled maintenance does NOT guarantee there won't be any problems, either.

Hope they find the problem and fix it.

Maybe you just don't understand the concept of forum threads.

They are threads of a conversation, and if the whole conversation is about the same topic, i.e., the problem with your car and the updates to those problems, it belongs in one thread. No one know knows what the thread is going to really be about until they click on it and start reading it. Really annoying to click on multiple threads and find out they're all about the same thing.

That's pretty good luck, if you ask me. You'll probably end up with many thousands in new parts, not to mention that everyone and their brother has inspected the car... should be very mechanically sound at the end and you should have much less to worry about than the average person reaching the end of their warranty. Hell, you're putting miles and the associated wear and tear on their car too, sounds like a sweet deal to me. Now, if it has similar troubles after the warranty expires and they don't cover you... then you have a problem. It's really a minor inconvenience.

I had my car in the body shop for 4.5 weeks for a bumper. I too had bought a jb4 and the accident happened the day before I got it. I feel your pain. Good news is that you are not putting any miles on it but yeah, big difference driving the loaner vs. the 335. You might come out way on top after it's fixed though. Just 2 times in the shop for me has been nearly 5k in repairs. I'd like the water pump and turbos to go out (without causing any damage) before my warranty is up. Hang in there and rack up the loaner miles (if you're able to). Jb4 is sweet!

The OP should be thanking the BMW gods every day that he's getting the kind of thorough coverage and work that he is.

The cost of new turbos and fuel injectors is pretty high. You should be DELIGHTED that they are taking their time, doing it right, and being thorough.

I realize it's inconvenient and frustrating, but the alternative is for them to band-aid it and hand it back. You DO NOT want that. Be as happy as you can that they are putting in the work to do it right.

And yes, all of this should have been in one thread - the first one you started - all you need to do is keep adding to it and the thread will pop up to the top of the forum.

well did they get it fixed is the question.

can you undo the JB4 if you have to take it back to the dealer is the question,

and what part fixed your car
turbos dont need to be broken in and neither do injectors, not sure who said they did but they dont,
new engines are run in at the factory, they usually ask that you dont drive a constant RPM for the first 500 miles so the rings seat well and not tow anything for maybe 1000 miles, not lug the engine either. other than that drive the crap out of it. by the way turbos have a 100K warranty and so does the HPFP thats high pressure fuel pump

and its the moderators job to tell you about not starting new threads in a nice way, the nancy boys can kiss off

hondo,

i haven't been to the dealership to pick the car up yet and dont know the specifics in regards to everrything that was replaced but i do know the injectors, turbos, cylinoids, and hpfp and some other things were replaced. the dealership mentioned driving the car 1000 miles to have the electronics (computer reprogrammed) to adapt to my driving habits, the reason why i inquired about having to break turbos in before adding the jb4 is because one of my friends said something to that extent. So it will be safe for me to have it installed? Also i totally agree with you in regards to the threads, im still fairly new to the forum so im not all that familiar with everything, i have thick skin so its fine.
