ok cleaned up the engine (bottom) so quite clean
but have been looking at this for the last 6 hours and all the post from varios bmw sources. Quite a few have said could be a valve cover gasket seals dripping down and there is a picture of some one elses and looks very similar to what i am seeing. But i have tried getting under the car to see if leaking from there but a no way of seeing into that area directly from the top or the bottom that i can see as covered by a large pan cover going from one side of the car to the other protecting the engine (can i remove this will i get a better view then ?) thanks |

I'll use brake cleaner if I were you, with the belly pan off, spray from the engine bay outside the garage. be careful it's rather strong solvent. Almost always you'll need valve-cover gasket, I just did mine. To check remove the spark-plugs closest to firewall if you see oil in the plug well you need to replace the valve-cover gasket for sure. Other leak I am not worry about unless you are loosing 1 quart in 2 weeks or less, with leaky VC-gasket though it'll foul your plug then you get misfire which is not good. |
