oil pan gasket

My oil pan gasket and crankshaft are leaking? Is this a costly repair?

The parts are cheap but there's a lot of labor involved, especially if it's the rear crank seal that's bad.

oil pan gasket repair cost

Thanks Mr Bean. The dealer has quoted me $1500 for the oil pan gasket leak and another $1700 for the crankshaft leak.

Is it the crankshaft leaking at the front or the rear? fixing the rear requires removal of the transmission. The front is easier but still kind of a pain.

lets see, for 3200 dollars you purchase a crap load of oil, spend about 30 bucks and put a pan under the car where you park it on your driveway, if its leaking a quart a minute you have a problem, other than that, 3200 bucks is a nice down payment on another BMW

dont spend the money on fixing it
been there done that, wasted my money on it

I did the oil pan gasket on a E46 and it requires some labor but if you are handy, have a spare car to drive in the meantime, can be done. I do have an E92 coupe and it looks similar, it looks like there is more labor involved on doing this one. not sure. I think I spent less than $200 in parts. it is worth it
