M6 Wheel on F10 535i

I know this has been discussed before and I have read and read but with conflicting opinions...
I purchased a set of M167 rims at least i think thats the model. The rims have the numbers 35571 and 35572 on them, they where on an m6 but im not sure they where original to the car.
Heres the question. the tires on them today are 255 in the front and 285 in the rear. I put them on the car and they stick out quite a bit, more than I thought they would. can I put smaller tires on these rims, if so how small and has anyone had these where at least it doesn't extend past the fender?
thanks for any help or suggestions...

The tires aren't the problem, the wheel offsets are the problem.

Style 167's offset i've found to be Fronts: ET:12 and Rears:17.
Those offset are too aggressive and therefore sticks out a lot.
The F10 front stock offset are 33 and rear 44.

You can keep the tires and TPMS. Then try to sell just the wheels itself.
