E90 M3.....couldn't do it.
My state has has a new law starting Mar 1 regarding the Car Tax (aka Ad Velorum(sp)). On Mar 1 all vehicle sales are subject to a one time 6% tax. This replaces the sales tax and yearly tag tax (based off value of car in that year and it decreases every year). As the law stands people who lease will pay the 6% and continue to pay sales tax in their monthly payment.
Wifey lease expires in March and because the car she wanted wasn't available in time to beat the Mar 1 deadline she offered to drive my car and I could pick up something such as the M3 this mo. I thought long and hard about this and I just couldn't fathom giving up my diesel for the M3. I just could not part with it for my daily driver....lol I always wanted an M3 since the E30. Go figure. Everyone's situation is different but with low interest rates and some loans requiring no money down, buying is basically the same as leasing or better. Returning the car before the lease is over or buying it/releasing it at the end of the lease is also easy with the right kind of lease. Been there done that.
The only advantage to leasing is you don't have to trade a car in to avoid more taxes - trading in a car will give you credit in many states for part of the taxes paid on the car that you are trading in. We are stuck with two new cars now and in the old yearly tax system in Georgia until we choose to sell them.... PL

I have lately been looking at different cars ,having had the 335d for 3 years this june. and while there are many that peak my interest for performance, everytime I look at the MPG of any veh that has similar or better performance numbers than the mighty D I cringe.
