Code 1624 and surging idle
Hi new to the forum. I have a 2000 bmw 528i automatic that has the code 1624 pedal position sensor and surging idle. Can someone help and point me in the right direction to correct this problem. Thanks

You done broke the code. Replace the pedal position sensor.

2000 528i code 1624 and surging idle
Could you please tell me where the pedal position sensor is located.This car has a gas pedal cable and not a sensor. Thanks

My mistake. You have the M52TU engine, which uses a throttle cable. In that case, the code refers to the thermostat. Bentley says, "M52 coolant thermostat (coolant temperature below thermostat regulating temperature)."
If you have the high cluster, unlock it and observe the Ktmp, test #7. S/b 95 deg+.

Code 1624 and surging idle
edjack Thanks for the help. Could you tell me what the high cluster is and test #7 is. This car runs cool in the winter per the temp gauge and in the middle during the summer. During the winter the gauge hardly moves. However once in a blue moon during the winter the gauge will peg out (car not overheating) after driving appr. 1 mile. I would pull over and shut off car and restart and all indications will be normal.( happened 3 times in 3 years). Do you think i should go after the thermostat and sensor? (which sensor). Thanks again
