Lag and Hesitation with throttle 02-745i

HI,
First this forum has saved me thousands on repairs and mostly allowed me to drive one of the most beautiful luxury cars out there.

The car has a hesitation and lag under throttle but notice no tach difference.
It Has 88k have owned for 4 years. Have taken to autozone for thier free diagnostic and
no error codes. Tried Lucas injector cleaner-no change-collant levels have been steady but
did add about a pint since a flush and 3k miles

My questions:
-could it be the spark pluggs?
-Fuel filter?
-is it worth taking to BMW dealer for their diagnostic? how much$
-or the dreaded weep hole
-reflash software-

Thank you

First thing I'd do is clean the MAF sensor and put new plugs in it and see if that helps.

Thanks -im guessing MAF is something you can do yourself-and of course plugs
Had read that no reason to change them if no cylinders are misfiring--
appreaciate it and wil repost

Cleaning the MAF is very easy, take off the air filter hose assembly and spray some MAF cleaner onto the sensor located inside the hose right next to the throttle body.

Mine started idling rough when I'd first start it up and felt down on power and after two trips to the dealer who said "it's normal" I cleaned the MAF and the problem went away.

With 88k miles on the plugs they are due to be replaced. Just don't use the real cheap Denso Irridium one's that cost a few bucks a piece or you might be pulling them out in a few weeks like I had to do on two of my BMW's that started giving me misfire codes right after putting them in. It's funny, I've used them on many other cars without a problem but for some reason the BMW's seem to not like them so I recommend sticking with either NGK or Bosch plugs if you can and gap them at .032 thousandths.

I'm not one of the better informatives on here but I'll get the ball started with what I do know:
1) Autozone diagnostic doesnt get into the DEEP coded issues. You may need to take it to someone else like a dealer or someone who has the proper program.
2) the weep hole is simply a coolant LEAK in a tube under your air intake but doesnt effect overall performance.
ok...sumbody else jump in..that's the extent of my mechanical assistance.

Your problem might be with the programming connected with the accelerator, you might want to try this software reprogramming:

engin hestitation between 20-40 mph

Cleaned MAF -noticed no difference-
same problem -serious lag and hesitation between 20 and 40 mph. no real problem when car is at 50 -80mph.
No problem starting car and idling.

Would old plugs cause this?

If you have over 150k miles, replace the Vanos and you it should come alive again.

I'd keep with the basics and swap the plugs next since they are overdue to be changed and see if that helps.

Before you spend cash try this:

put the fob in the ignition
push the start button once with the car off and your foot off the brake (i.e., do not start the car)
press the accelerator to the kick point (or the floor) and hold for 25 seconds
start the car
drive and test

NIH - I got this info off another DIY forum on bimmerfest. It worked for me.
