2007 328xi worn belt tensioner

The dealer notified my that the engine belt is beginning to walk off the belt tensioner because of wear and should be replaced (>$400) 72K miles. Seems premature; has anyone had the same problem?

We did on our 2002 330i at about that mileage ..... seems liked a weak point that was never corrected.

I found a recommended small shop who uses OEM parts and will replace the tensioner for less than half of the dealership's quote. Thanks for the tip. I have learned quite a few DIY tips from the experience of others on this forum - great info exchange!
